Big Buddha of Baguashan, Changhua

From the top of Baguashan八卦山, south of Taichung台中, a huge statue of the Buddha watches over Changhua City彰化巿. The black statue, visible above the many downtown high rise buildings, is magnificent.

This is the Big Buddha that sits on top of a mountain called Baguashan in Changhua, Taiwan.  This is my very favorite place in Taiwan, I go up there a few times a week to sit and ponder.  Is it sacrilegious to pray to my God while surrounded by somebody else's?!?

This rock God is making faces, how can I take him seriously?

Baguashan also has several beautiful Pagodas.  This one is located by a small trail and has a fish pond.

The steps to the Buddha lined with God/Goddess statues.

From Baguashan, there is an aerial view of the entire city.  Minus the pollution, it's a beautiful sight.  There is also this dragon fountain that spits water all around it and the kids play in at night.

Another buddha statue over looking Changhua.  Big Ears symbolizes something along the lines of good listener.  I'll have to research to find more info.

This is the bright temple behind the Big Buddha.  I haven't seen any elephants but I love these statues!  Here I am literally melting in the HOT Asian Sun-can you see my skin glistening?! (it shouldn't be as obvious now that i edited out the dripping sweat coming from my brow)

The giant goldfish pond.

Another pagoda overlooking Changhua.

Same Pagoda, different angle.  I can't get enough of Baguashan!!
