Shenzhen-Guilin, China
Guilin Population: 1.3 million
Shenzhen-Guilin Sleeper Train: $36 one way
Guilin Hostel: Wada Hostel-$8
We rode the metro in Hong Kong across the Chinese border to Shenzhen. From Shenzhen, we got on a sleeper train (12+ hours) to Guilin, China.
Sleeper Train is has 6 beds per unit. Talk about being packed in like sardines, this soon came to be my least favorite form of transportation. We liked being on the top bunks so people wouldn't wake us up when they went to the bathroom.
We had to use up the rest of our Hong Kong dollars, and this was what it bought: our HEALTHY dinner/breakfast.
A friend we met on the train that helped us find our hostel.
Not speaking Chinese started to become a issue.
Good thing we stayed at fantastic hostels that helped us find our way around the city.
The cities of Guilin and Yangshuo are well known for their unique scenery.
Along the Li River are all of these small mountain formations.
This was a pretty crappy trip because it rained the ENTIRE time we were there and it was freezing!
But who cares it was cold, check out how beautiful it is?!
Because of the cold, rainy weather we opted to ride in a boat (instead of a bamboo raft) down the river.
The entire trip, these bamboo raft salesman were trying to sell us jade souvenirs.
Scared the crap out of when this guy knocked on my window.
Our new Indonesian friends. They gave us some spices to keep for our chinese journey.
Chinese food is pretty bland and gross.

Warming up with some Hot Cocoa at McD's, our new restaurant of choice.
Cutest girl, reminded me of the boy on the Christmas Story.
Lost in Guilin.
