HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
I made it home to the USA days before the Chinese New Year which started on February 14th! Bummer deal, but I was able to share Chinese culture and tradition with these darling kids. My older sister, Tawna, is a 1st grade teacher at McKinley Elementary in Tremonton. My students in Taiwan were the cutest, but Tawna's class is a very close second.

I wish I would've written down everything they said, it was priceless but here's one interaction:
Tabbi: "Who can tell me what language they speak in Taiwan?"
Student A: "ENGLISH!!"
Student B: "I know...Spanish?!"
Student C: "crap, I forgot..."
Student D (without raising his hand): "Taiwanese...er...CHINESE!"
Tabbi: "That's correct. They speak Taiwanese, Chinese AND some English!"

I showed them pictures of crazy food in China: pig's feet, cow organs, chicken hearts, scorpions and snakes. Next we learned to write/count to ten in Chinese and then we learned how to eat marshmallows with chopsticks.

Teaching is a lot of fun, I wish I would've realized that in college. Thank you Miss Perkins' class for letting me share some of my Asian adventures with you!
