Sun Moon Lake, the Pearl of Taiwan

Sun Moon Lake, the Pearl of Taiwan.  This is the largest body of water in Taiwan and the only Natural Lake.  There are several fading layers of mountains that surround the Lake from every side.

Wen Wu Temple overlooking Sun Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake has plans for a 7-Star Hotel, like the one in Dubai.  This is a beautiful area that I hope doesn't get littered by tourists, buildings, exhaust and pollution.

English Teachers (Een-gwin Louscher) + Emily outside of the Sun Moon Lake Wen Wu Temple (Err oo-way tahn wen wu meow)!

Cheery Row Boats on the clean, teal lake water.  The little fish were swimming happily around and dragonflies were zipping about everywhere, it felt like a dream...until....

....we saw more of these creatures.  I wouldn't even call them spiders because they're as big as my face.  Hikers BEWARE!!

A big thanks to these charming gals from Puli who met up with us and scooted us around the entire lake!  Let it be known that I will be buying Shan Fen's dinner next time I see her...she wouldn't let me pay her for anything.  I've found the people here to be sweet yet painfully stubborn!

This is Emily and I on our hike up to the Ci-en Pagoda.  Emily is one of the secretaries at my school, she is fantastic!

Banging the Bongo Drum.. Air Jordan style!

Stairs to the top of the Ci-en Pagoda.  Oh hey Tanier!!

Ci-en Pagoda in memorial of Chiang Kai Shek's mother (1st Prez of Taiwan) .

Our ferry boat ride at sunset.

What a blissful Saturday!

Sidenote: Reality always hits when I come home to sleep on my box spring (minus the mattress).  As much fun as I'm having here in Asia, I can NOT wait to come home (wherever that is) to sleep with squishy pillows on a soft, fluffy bed covered with a dainty duvet cover!

Personal Journaling Sidenote:  Tabbi- today you went to a BBQ with the Chinese Singles in the Taichung area where you choked on plum vinegar water(not punch) til you cried, fell asleep on a strangers couch, broke a dinner glass in an attempt to clean up, and then left wearing someone else's house slippers (leaving your outside shoes in their entry).  When I went back to retrieve my shoes, I introduced the group to the term,'being an airhead'.  They loved it but with the impression I made today, I don't expect another invite! ;)
